The History of Paper Money in Connecticut
April 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
We invite CHS members to join us for a brown bag lunch talk with Jim Rosen, President of the Colonial Coin Collectors Club, a worldwide group of numismatists focused on pre-Federal coins used in the earliest days of the United States. Dr. Rosen has spent many years volunteering at the CHS to catalog our coin and currency collections. Recently retired from his medical practice focusing on pediatric and adult allergies, he has helped to curate the display of Colonial Currency in our Nawrot History Nook.
This lecture will explore the beginnings of paper money in the American Colonies with a focus on the Colony of Connecticut, which began its paper money in 1709 and will trace the development of this currency thru the American Revolution and end in 1780.
We will provide coffee and dessert, feel free to bring your brown bag lunch to enjoy during the talk. RSVP by Friday, April 14 and indicate the program name and date by calling (860) 236-5621 x238 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
