The Rhode Island Food Strategy: Context & How It Relates to You

The Newport Historical Society’s current programming initiative Newport Eats aims to provide historical context for present ideas such as food sustainability, community development, and healthy eating. Keeping to this popular topic, the Society is pleased to host author Sue AnderBois for the February 23rd, 2017 talk The Rhode Island Food Strategy: Context & How It Relates to You. Sue will discuss the soon-to-be released Rhode Island Food Strategy, how it was developed, some major key initiatives of the strategy, and how it relates to all Rhode Islanders.
Sue AnderBois is Rhode Island’s first Director of Food Strategy. She comes to the position with a background in policy, strategic planning, and community engagement – in both food/farming and clean energy. Since moving to Rhode Island in 2013, she has been an active member of the Rhode Island Food Policy Council and is passionate about Rhode Island. She has an MBA from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Dartmouth College.
The Rhode Island Food Strategy, is offered on Thursday, February 23 at 5:30 pm at the NHS Resource Center, 82 Touro Street, Newport, RI. General admission costs $5 per person, $4 for Newport Winter Festival button holders, and $1 for Newport Historical Society members along with active duty and retired military.
