Join us for a gallery talk as we explore the Monadnock Center’s two special exhibits on quilts and samplers! We will begin by looking at the 22 quilts on display in Pieced and Patterned: Connie Bastille’s Quilt Collection. The quilts, coverlets, and quilt tops on exhibit offer an overview of 150 years of American quilting. We will discuss quilting history as well as the development of fabrics and dyes. Drop by the Phoenix Mill House for a look at 1830s winter cooking and enjoy samples of food prepared over the open hearth. With fresh foods scarce in the winter, Nancy Prescott will be working with the dried, pickled, and preserved foods she has put by during the fall harvest to prepare hearty meals that chase away the chill.
